The questions everyone asks on the first call
What does it cost?
The first call and the look at your code cost nothing. After that it depends on what we find, because taking over a tidy two-week-old project and taking over a year of patches are not the same job. You get one number for fixing it and one monthly number for running it, before you commit to anything.
Do you have to rebuild it from scratch?
No, and that's the point. We work on the code you already have. A rebuild throws away the thing that's already earning and puts you back six weeks, so we only ever raise it if the alternative genuinely doesn't work.
The code is a mess. Is that a problem?
It's the normal case. Every project we take over was built fast by someone learning as they went, which is how it got to market at all. We're not going to lecture you about it.
Who owns the code?
You do, start to finish. It stays in your repository under your account, we work in it, and you keep every commit. We're not building a dependency on us into your own product.
Will you sign an NDA?
Yes, before you send us anything, if you want one. Ask on the call and we'll have it to you the same day.
What if I want to leave?
You give us a month's notice and you go, with the code, the accounts and a handover document. No exit fee and nothing held back. If we're only keeping you because leaving is painful, we've built the wrong business.
What if my app can't be saved?
We tell you on the first call, for free, and you don't pay us. That's the deal, and we'd rather say it early than take money for a job that won't work.
How is this different from hiring a developer?
A developer is one person with holidays, other clients and a notice period, and when they leave the knowledge leaves with them. We take on the whole thing as a service, so the app is still someone's job next month.
What do you work with?
Whatever your AI wrote. In practice that's mostly React, Next.js, Node, Python, Flutter, Supabase, Firebase and Postgres, on Vercel, Railway or Replit. If it's something unusual, ask us on the call.
